Safety Patrol Guidelines:
*Be Ready: The Safety Patrol belt must be visibly worn at all times while on post. When unable to be at your post, please let Mrs. Lindauere know as soon as possible. You are on duty on school property ONLY. This does not include when you are at a bus stop or on the bus.
*Be Responsible: Set a good example for the students of Atholton by being on time, staying at your assigned post, observing student behavior, dressing according to the weather, and always using crosswalks and sidewalks. You should be actively monitoring the students in the hallway while at your post.
Part of being a responsible patrol is being on time.
Safety Patrols begin at 9:00AM and run until the morning song. You do not need to check in with Mrs. Lindauere in the morning; simply report to your post as soon as you get to school. The afternoon post coverage lasts from 3:40PM until the final bus is called. If you are a bus rider, you need to leave your post when your bus is called at the end of the day. Do not miss your bus!
*Be Respectful: Make sure that you enforce rules in a respectful way. Be sure to give friendly reminders to students for the following rules:
-Walk at all times in the hallways and on school property (no running)
-Cross at crosswalks and stay on sidewalks; do not use the grass or street
-Hats are not to be worn in the building
-Students should have their hands to themselves
If a student refuses to follow the directions that you give them, please see Mrs. Hlavka so that she can address the behavior. If you are on post or in the building and witness unsafe behavior, you need to report the incident to Mrs. Hlavka, a nearby teacher, or the front office as soon as possible.
*Always be friendly to other students in the hallway. Say “good morning” or “have a great day” when students walk past you. Remember – YOU are the example!*
