AES Team Turkey Trot 2016
November 21st 2016
Event Overview: The Turkey Trot will be a running/walking event for students to earn laps for their team. Each grade level will have a blue, yellow, and white class, dividing the school into three teams. Each color will have their own start/finish area around the loop, where they will warm up and cool down together. The goal of the event is to have the most total laps, which will be announced at the end of the day.
Grades K-2 will have a total of 15 minutes to walk/run the loop, while 3-5 will have a total of 20 minutes. During that time period, students will earn a popsicle stick for every lap that they have completed and then place it in their team bucket to contribute to their team total. At the end of each grade’s run, the popsicle sticks will be counted for each team.
Students are encouraged to cheer on their teammates and do their best to contribute as many laps as possible during the event. Every participant will receive a pair of shoelaces to celebrate their contribution to their team. The goal of this event is to have students in all of the grade levels working together and encouraging each other. There will not be any individual prizes.
